3 reasons why WWE made the wrong decision by booking Roman Reigns to beat LA Knight at WWE Crown Jewel 2023

WWE Crown Jewel 2023 is done and dusted. The Saudi Arabian premium live event lived up to the expectations, with fans witnessing some incredible matches on the show. Roman Reigns successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against LA Knight in the main event.

The Tribal Chief received some support from Bloodline member Jimmy Uso, who made an expected interference in the middle of the match. Reigns pinned Knight to continue his reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

While it was not flattering to see Roman Reigns retain his title, here are three reasons why WWE made a mistake by making this decision at Crown Jewel 2023.

1. LA Knight had all the momentum by his side heading into WWE Crown Jewel 2023

LA Knight is among the top merchandise sellers in WWE right now. The audience is right behind him, and Crown Jewel was the perfect platform for WWE to give him his big moment.

Ending Roman’s reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion would have established Knight as the new face of the company. However, the company seems to have other plans.

2. Many fans are bored of Roman Reigns now

Although Roman Reigns gets a massive reaction from the fans whenever he performs, the truth is that a majority of the regular fans have been bored of his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign. Reigns is neither the best technician in the ring nor do his matches have something new. The same old Bloodline interferences have helped him become the longest-reigning champion.

3. SmackDown needs 1 full-time champion

SmackDown’s world champion is a part-timer, and now even the mid-card title belongs to a part-timer as Logan Paul beat Rey Mysterio for the United States Championship. The Blue brand does not even have its unique tag team titles set. Hence, they only have one full-time champion, and she is the WWE Women’s Champion, IYO Sky.
