3 reasons why Cody Rhodes winning Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL is best for business

The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes is set to take his final step towards the possible glory that awaits at WrestleMania 40 as he is set to main event both nights of the show. The Night 1 of the show would see him and his partner Seth “Freakin” Rollins collide against The Final Boss, The Rock, and his partner, The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.

The match result will have direct implications on the stipulation for the main event championship bout between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns on Night 2 of the show. With the crowd firmly behind him and responsible for getting Rhodes his rightful place after he seemingly surrendered it to The Rock a few months ago, all signs are pointing towards Cody rising above the odds and ending Roman Reigns’ historic 1300+day reign as champion.

Here are three major reasons WWE booking Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania XL would be best for business:

1. Cody Rhodes is the only formidable opponent left to dethrone Roman Reigns

The fans have rallied behind Cody Rhodes like no other WWE superstar in recent memory, giving rise to the ‘We Want Cody’ to overthrow The Rock and Roman Reigns’ plans to main event WrestleMania this year. That sight was a shocker to witness as Cody’s popularity surpassed the fame of two iconic stars in The Final Boss and The Head of the Table.

Witnessing that, WWE has practically no other credible opponent left except Cody Rhodes if they have plans to take the title off Roman Reigns who has put down every top WWE superstar in the modern era en route to the 4th longest title reign in WWE.

2. WWE would finally get a regular champion on one of its major WWE television programming

After Roman Reigns’ popularity sky-rocketed donning the Tribal Chief gimmick that began in 2020, he negotiated himself into a position where he did not have to appear or defend his title regularly on WWE shows, transitioning into a part-time attraction.

Evidently, that has been a subject of frustration which would not be the case if Cody Rhodes managed to win his first WWE World championship at WrestleMania XL. The American Nightmare is a regular fixture on WWE programming, starting from televised and house shows to other media appearances, giving the fans a regularly appearing champion, possibly on SmackDown much like the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins on RAW.

3. The victory is important to establish Cody Rhodes as the new face of the company

For years, WWE had positioned Roman Reigns as the unquestioned face of WWE that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had envisioned early on in his career. However, with Reigns slowly phasing out from regular WWE televised programming and becoming more of a part-time, WWE needs a new face of the company.

As witnessed since his return in 2022, Cody Rhodes’ journey to the top of the food chain, his Finish the Story narrative, and his impeccable connection with the WWE Universe makes him the perfect candidate to become the next flagship star of WWE that would be cemented with a monumental win over Reigns at WrestleMania and Cody Rhodes becoming the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
