If the team does not do well, there is a chance that they will be replaced at the helm of affairs. 1) Babar Azam
Shaheen Afridi should have been the captain of the side. However, Babar got the task at the last minute. Now, Babar is under pressure to do well. His team, at the moment, is not doing well in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
If he fails in his job, he might be sacked again as the skipper. Shaheen could take up the role or even Mohammad Rizwan could be in line for the captaincy.
2) Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler is one of the popular captains who might lose their job if they fail in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 2023 ODI World Cup was bad for the English skipper.
Now, it is very difficult for England to progress in the T20 World Cup. If the team is does not go past the league stage, Buttler could lose his job. It will be interesting to see who replaces him.
3) Kane Williamson
Kane Williamson is struggling as a batter in the T20 format. His team is also facing a few issues in the ongoing World Cup. Considering Kane’s fitness issues, there could be a case for him to give up his T20I captaincy, especially if he fails to guide his team well in the 2024 T20 WC.
