As per reports, Wanindu Hasaranga is ruled out of IPL 2024. This is due to a left heel injury. This will be a big blow for SRH because they would have liked the Sri Lankan cricketer to lead the spin attack. The franchise must now look at other options to replace the leg-spinner. Here, we take a look at the list of three players whom SRH can target as the replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga.
1) Tabraiz Shamsi
Tabraiz Shamsi is someone who can come in as the replacement for Hasaranga. He offers variety and in some venues, he could be a lethal option to have.
Moreover, there are not many options left in the market that offer as good as the experience that the South African does. He has also played in the IPL before and that must further help his case.
2) Akeal Hosein
Akeal Hosein has played for SRH in the past. However, he did not get a lot of games. The West Indian was later released by the outfit.
Akeal is an in-form cricketer and interestingly, no franchise has picked him so far. Apart from his consistent bowling, he also is a good batter in the lower order. These aspects could help SRH to further do well in the tournament.
3) Sarfaraz Khan
Sarfaraz Khan is one of the players whom SRH can target as the replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga. The spin attack of SRH is sorted with Washington Sundar, Mayank Markhande and Shahbaz Ahmed. The one pain point they could address is the performance of Indian batters barring Abhishek Sharma.
Sarfaraz Khan is high on confidence and he certainly has the ability to operate at No.3. His presence could allow Abhishek Sharma to move back to the top of the order. Sarfaraz is good against spin and during the middle overs, he could form a good complement for Aiden Markram.
