Mumbai Indians are one of the teams that used the option of the Impact Player rule well in IPL 2023. They now have more options for this and hence, we might see them use it better in the upcoming season. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players whom Mumbai Indians could use as an Impact Player for IPL 2024.
1) Nuwan Thushara
Mumbai Indians are probably the only franchise that can start off with just three foreigners in the playing XI. Hence, if they are bowling second, they can bring in a foreign pacer as the Impact Player.
Nuwan Thushara is a specialist in death overs. He might also have a role in the middle overs. Hence, soon after the powerplay, he could be brought into the attack. Hence, he is on this list.
2) Shreyas Gopal
Mumbai Indians do not have a popular spin attack. Nevertheless, the existing attack took them to the playoffs in IPL 2024. Hence, the franchise will be hopeful of a similar show.
That said, on tracks such as in Chennai and Lucknow, the team could need an extra spinner. Here, they could opt for an extra spinner in the team. Shreyas Gopal is an experienced player and would do well as a traditional leg-spinner. Plus, he offers something with the bat.
3) Vishnu Vinod
Vishnu Vinod is one of the players whom Mumbai Indians could use as an Impact Player for IPL 2024. If Mumbai Indians lose some early wickets or if they need an extra batter in the second innings, they can opt for Vishnu Vinod.
Last season, he played a few good cameos. He is an experienced name and can play in various batting slots. Considering Nehal Wadhera would find himself a spot in the first XI, Vishnu Vinod will be the option for MI if they are chasing a target.
