3 players whom Gautam Gambhir might surprisingly not select for BGT 2024/25

Gautam Gambhir‘s first big challenge will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which starts later this year. Already, the preparations might have started. India needs to win the series to assert its dominance on the WTC Points Table. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players whom Gautam Gambhir might surprisingly not select for BGT 2024/25.

1) Sarfaraz Khan

Sarfaraz Khan actually had a strong start to his India career. However, unfortunately, he might not be considered for the BGT by Gambhir. It is more because the preferred names will be back in the setup.

The likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will all return to the squad. And these players will walk into the playing XI. Dhruv Jurel might be selected as the backup keeper while Shreyas Iyer could be the backup middle-order batter. Hence, Sarfaraz might not get a spot.

2) Akash Deep

Akash Deep is one of the players whom Gautam Gambhir might surprisingly not select for BGT 2024/25. The pace from West Bengal might have to give his place to some of the other players in this series. He was one of the replacements against England and hence, he might not be considered.

Akash had a great debut, especially in his first session. However, having not played IPL much might have had an impact on the minds of the selectors. Therefore, he could be dropped from the side.

3) Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur was one of the confirmed names whenever India used to play a Test match in the SENA Nations. He used to give a lot of stability at No.8. However, in recent times, his performances with the ball have not been great.

Considering it is a new era, Gambhir will have different ideas. He could consider including Hardik Pandya as the pace-bowling all-rounder. He also has the option of Harshit Rana, who can be decent with the bat. Arshdeep Singh could also be included for this tour.
