Devon Conway is currently injured and is missing the first Test for New Zealand against Australia. There are reports that he might even withdraw from IPL 2024 so that he might remain fit for the 2024 T20 World Cup. While Rachin Ravindra would open the batting then, CSK will be keen to have an able backup, as well. 1) Phil Salt
Phil Salt is a man in form right now. He is also a good wicket-keeper, as well. While he could have limitations against spin, when CSK travels away, he could be very useful.
Anyways, he would be the backup since Rachin would play at the top. In Salt, CSK would get access to a young cricketer who is very aggressive. 2) Ryan Rickelton
Ryan Rickelton is one of the players whom CSK should target if Devon Conway is ruled out of IPL 2024. He was the highest run-getter in the recent SA20 League.
An aggressive cricketer, Ryan Rickelton is a left-hander and can also keep wickets. He is in form and would tick multiple boxes for the side. Hence, he is on this list.
3) Kusal Mendis
Kusal Mendis is an experienced cricketer but he is yet to get his due in the Indian Premier League. He can also keep wickets and having him as the backup would make sense for CSK.
He is also the right fit for a franchise for CSK. The team usually picks under-rated cricketers and makes them do well for the side. Kusal falls in the right category in this regard.
