Duleep Trophy will be a platform for some of the India aspirants to put on a show. If they do well here, there is every chance that they could be selected for the Bangladesh Test series. However, the opposite could also happen. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who may not be selected for the Bangladesh Test series if they fail in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
1) Devdutt Padikkal
The Karnataka batter had a good start to his Test career with a fine fifty on debut. That said, after that, his form in IPL 2024 was poor. This will surely have an impact.
On the other hand, the entire middle-order will return to the squad. Hence, it could be hard to have DDP back. However, if he scores a century or a bigger score, he could get a spot in the Indian Team.
2) Arshdeep Singh
As per reports, Indian management is considering Arshdeep Singh for Tests. The series against Bangladesh would be the right series to experiment with him, especially because the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami may not be available.
However, the Punjab pacer has to back up the case with a fine show in the Duleep Trophy. The likes of Yash Dayal are also playing. Hence, the management could even pick the best left-arm pacer out of all the choices.
3) Akash Deep
Akash Deep is one of the players who may not be selected for the Bangladesh Test series if they fail in the Duleep Trophy 2024. The West Bengal pacer had a stunning debut against England in the final Test. However, since then, he has not done much.
He did not play a lot in IPL. On the other hand, it is the new management and we could see some experiments happening. Therefore, unless Akash really performs well in the Duleep Trophy, he may not be selected.
