3 players who made debut in Rohit-Dravid era but are nowhere in the picture right now

When the Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid era started, many were hopeful of trophies to follow. However, the duo has not been successful, as yet. Also, there has been criticism of the way the players have been handled. It was after the 2021 T20 World Cup that this new era started. A few players who made their debut under the duo are not in the scheme of things right now. Here, we take a look at three players who made their debut in the Rohit-Dravid era but are nowhere in the picture right now.

1) Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel was brilliant when he won the Purple Cap in IPL. He soon got to make his debut and cemented his spot in the T20I playing XI. However, after an injury break, he failed to get back to form.

Even in the recent IPL, Harshal was poor as he leaked runs and failed to pick wickets consistently. With the likes of Arshdeep Singh asserting their dominance, it is understandable that Harshal is not in the setup.

2) Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer is one of the players who made their debut in the Rohit-Dravid era but is nowhere in the picture right now. When Hardik Pandya was injured, Venkatesh Iyer was given an opportunity.

However, after Hardik’s return, there is no requirement for Iyer. His form also dropped. That said, he did well in IPL 2023 and it won’t be a surprise if Team India considers him as the backup for Hardik.

3) Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan, like Harshal Patel, did well in IPL. His debut was delayed but when he got his chance, he got a run of games. However, he was inconsistent and also had some fitness issues.

In IPL, as well, he did not do well like he did in his breakthrough campaign. Therefore, he is not in the picture right now, although he could still make a comeback with a few strong seasons.
