3 players who might replace Jasprit Bumrah in MI for IPL 2023
Mumbai Indians had a decent auction as they brought Cameron Green and it’s fair to say that they have all their bases covered now. Apart from Australian all-rounder, they purchased Jhye Richardson, Piyush Chawla, Dean Jansen, Vishnu Vinod, Shams Mulani, Nehal Wadhera, and Raghav Goyal. However, they have suffered a massive blow ahead of the tournament as ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament as he’s yet to recover from the injury. As Bumrah is ruled out of the league m, let’s take a look at 3 players who might replace him in MI for the IPL 2023.

Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep Sharma could’ve been a perfect replacement for Jasprit Bumrah for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023. The pacer has been phenomenal in the IPL as he has taken 114 wickets in 104 IPL appearances at a decent economy of 7.77. Being the bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli Kohli most times in the league, the fast bowler was the only bowler between 2014 and 2020 to scalp over 12 wickets in each edition. In the absence of Bumrah, Sandeep could play a vital role for MI with the new ball and provide good support to Jofra Archer. His ability to swing the ball initially could’ve benefitted the team as they lack swing bowlers and therefore he can be one among the choices to replace Bumrah. Despite being so effective in the league, Sandeep went unsold in the auction.

Varun Aaron
Another player Mumbai Indians can pick as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the team is Varun Aaron. The pacer has vast experience and is quite effective with the new ball. With MI lacking pacers who can generate swiping initially, Aaron could play a great role for the team in the league. His ability to ball fast and swing the ball could’ve been threatening for any opposition. In 53 games he has picked 44 wickets at an economy of 8.94 and can be quite effective for MI on a fast Wankhede pitch. He too went unsold in the auction.
Dasun Shanaka
Although Mumbai Indians have quite a few pace-bowling all-rounders but Sri Lanka all-rounder Dasun Shanaka could be an ideal player for Mumbai Indians in place of Jasprit Bumrah. His ability to step up with both bat and ball could’ve been handy for the four-time champions. His batting will boost MI’s lower order and with him being an economical fast bowler, he can be a great support to the likes of Jofra Archer Cameron Green and others. His ability to swing the new ball and bowl exceptionally well at the death could be vital for Mumbai Indians. The all-rounder has so far played 176 matches in the shortest format and has amassed 3649 runs at a strike rate of 142.65. He also has picked up 53 wickets at an economy of 8.72.
