BCCI has announced the squad for the first Test against Bangladesh. Bangladesh will be in Imdia for two Tests. They are in decent form and hence, it will be an interesting series. Here, we take a look at the list of three players unlucky to miss the Indian squad for the first Test against Bangladesh. Before that, here is a look at the squad:
Squad: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal.
1) Shreyas Iyer
When India and Bangladesh last played a Test, it was Shreyas Iyer in the batting unit who pulled India out of the hole. He is also one of the best batters of spin on the Indian side.
All these factors make it a bit unlucky for Iyer to miss out on the Test squad. With KL Rahul there, India might not have needed a backup wicket-keeper. Here is where Iyer could have got his spot in the side.
2) Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh is one of the players unlucky to miss the Indian squad for the first Test against Bangladesh. A couple of weeks ago, many felt that Arshdeep Singh would play Tests for India.
However, it appears that Yash Dayal has got his place now. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal are the other pacers in the squad.
3) Ruturaj Gaikwad
In all the chances that he has got, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been doing well. He seems to be ready for Tests but BCCI is yet to give him a chance.
India needs to prepare a backup opener and also might need another option at No.3 if Shubman Gill’s form drops. Ruturaj would have been ideal for both of these positions. Hence, he is a bit unlucky here.
