Sunrisers Hyderabad surprised all with their brand of cricket in IPL 2024. They did lose in the finals but it was still an excellent season for then. They would now want to improve their team further in the coming auctions. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players SRH will surely release before the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Mayank Agarwal
Mayank Agarwal had a disappointing run in IPL 2024. He played in the first few games and then failed to get a game. This is because he was in poor form and also Abhishek Sharma started to do well.
Mayank’s skills in the T20 format seem to have reduced now. He is not reliable as an opener now. SRH would rather invest in a youngster. Hence, Mayank might have to be released by the outfit.
2) Fazalhaq Farooqi
Fazalhaq Farooqi is one of the players SRH will surely release before the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Pat Cummins is likely to be the skipper of the franchise for the next season, as well. With him in the side, there is less likelihood of an extra pacer in the playing XI.
The Afghan did not get a single game in IPL 2024. Marco Jansen was also dropped after some games. However, Jansen could be retained because he offers more promise and also value with the bat. Hence, Farooqi could be released.
3) Abdul Samad
Abdul Samad was backed a lot by SRH. However, the J&K player failed to repay the debt. Barring a few matches, he has been poor for a while now.
Even for Samad, going to a different franchise will help his career. He might even want to get a different role so that he can express himself differently. For SRH, they would probably target someone like Shashank Singh or any capped Indian batter to take up a role in the middle-order.
