3 Players RCB Might Retain Despite Their Poor Performance In IPL 2022

Royal Challengers Bangalore had one of their best seasons in IPL 2022. The Bangalore-based franchise became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2020, 2021, and 2022. They made it past the Eliminator this time. RCB defeated the Lucknow Super Giants to earn a place in the Qualifier 2 match. However, a stunning ton from Jos Buttler did not allow the Royal Challengers Bangalore to progress beyond the Qualifier 2 match.

RCB finished third in the overall standings, while they attained the fourth position on the league stage’s points table. The team management would be disappointed with the team’s failure in Qualifier 2, but overall, they would be satisfied with the performance of a majority of the players.

Because of their Top 4 finish in IPL 2022, RCB might consider retaining the following three players for IPL 2023 despite their disappointing show in the recently concluded season of the league.

1. RCB might retain Mohammed Siraj for IPL 2023

Mohammed Siraj has received much backing from the Royal Challengers Bangalore team management. He improved a lot during IPL 2020 and 2021, but his performance went down in IPL 2022. The fast bowler, who was retained ahead of the mega auction, scalped nine wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 10.07. Despite his disappointing show, Siraj is likely to be retained for IPL 2023.

2. RCB may retain Akash Deep for IPL 2023

Akash Deep made his IPL debut for RCB in 2022. The fast bowler scalped five wickets in five matches. He also bowled one maiden over, but his overall economy rate was 10.88. Since Deep is a rising star, Royal Challengers may not release him.

3. Siddarth Kaul

Another fast bowler to feature on the list is Siddarth Kaul. The right-arm pacer got only one game in IPL 2022, where he conceded 43 runs in four wicketless overs. Kaul might receive one more contract because he got only one chance in IPL 2022.
