After a drought of close to 17 years, Royal Challengers Bangalore finally won a trophy. This silverware came through the women’s team in the Women’s Premier League. The Smriti Mandhana-led side defeated Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals in Delhi on March 17th. Although RCB won the title, they would still want to improve their squad for the upcoming season. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players RCB might release before WPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Nadine de Klerk
Nadine de Klerk is one of the players RCB might release before WPL 2025 Auctions. She came in as the replacement for Heather Knight for WPL 2024. However, she might not retain a spot.
She could not do well in the only game she got a game. Moreover, seeing the current combination, RCB would anyways need the experience of Knight for the next season in the middle order.
2) Renuka Singh Thakur
She was one of the most expensive signings in the first-ever WPL Auctions. However, the pacer has not been able to leave a mark. She has been very inconsistent and has hardly picked wickets in the powerplay.
With the spinners stepping up, RCB could look to use this money to further improve the squad in the other areas. They can anyways buy her back again at a lower price. Hence, Renuka is on this list.
3) Sophie Devine
It would be a tough decision but RCB might release Sophie Devine before WPL 2025. In WPL 2024, she struggled a lot with the bat. With the ball, as well, she hardly left an impact.
One of her strengths is playing the spinners. This was not up to the mark in the recently concluded season. RCB could think of hiring a younger cricketer who can help the squad do further well in the coming years. Therefore, Sophie could be released.
