IPL 2024 will surely form a platform on which the selectors would base their discussion while picking the 2024 T20 World Cup squad. Before the IPL, BCCI had announced the central player contract list. Interestingly, a few players who are not a part of this list might still play in the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. Here, we take a look at the list of three players not in the BCCI contract but who might play in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
1) Yuzvendra Chahal
One of the highest wicket-takers for India in T20Is, it is shocking to know that Chahal has never played in the T20 World Cup. While he was not picked for the 2021 edition, he did not get a chance in the playing XI in the 2022 edition. He was recently removed from the BCCI contract list.
That said, Chahal is in good form and is in the fray to win the Purple Cap again. He seems to have regained confidence and he is bowling with a good rhythm. On the other hand, the likes of Ravi Bishnoi are not in great form. Hence, Chahal still has a chance.
2) Abhishek Sharma
With Yashasvi Jaiswal not doing well and Abhishek Sharma at his peak, it won’t be a surprise if the Punjab cricketer gets a chance to make his debut at the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Abhishek also offers a few overs of spin. This could help Rohit Sharma balance the side. Hence, he could get a chance as a backup all-rounder, as well.
3) Mayank Yadav
Mayank Yadav is one of the players not in the BCCI contract but who might play in the 2024 T20 World Cup. India would have picked a backup pacer in the squad. This pacer must have been someone who could hit the deck hard with a good pace.
Mayank Yadav has been doing that ever since he made his IPL debut this season. Hence, he is firmly on this list of cricketers.
