Mumbai Indians have announced Chris Jordan as a replacement signing for IPL 2023. However, there is no confirmation on who is the injured cricketer. Last season, Jordan had a terrible outing at CSK. MI is having issues at the death in IPL 2023. So far, they are conceding above 200 runs in almost every game in the ongoing season. Jordan may be an expert in this phase but he has not found success in the IPL and is also not consistent. In this regard, MI could have had alternate options. On that note, here, we take a look at three players Mumbai Indians could have picked instead of Chris Jordan for IPL 2023.
1) Luke Wood
Luke Wood is a player who did well in the recent Big Bash League. A tall left-arm pacer, Wood is also useful with the bat in the lower order.
Although MI has a lot of left-arm seam options, they could have still tried someone like Luke. Since he is relatively unknown, he would have also brought the surprise factor.
2) Adam Milne
Adam Milne is one of the players Mumbai Indians could have picked instead of Chris Jordan for IPL 2023. The Kiwi is a proper hit-the-deck bowler. He is someone who can be used in multiple phases of the game.
Currently, Milne is representing the Kiwis in Pakistan. If there was an opportunity, MI could have targeted Milne, who has played for Mumbai Indians before.
3) Andrew Tye
The experienced Australian pacer did well in the BBL recently. He also operated for LSG in IPL 2022 and has good experience playing in the IPL.
When it comes to variations in the death overs, Tye would have been a great option. Considering he is in recent good form and his ability to remain consistent, he might have served the purpose better for the five-time champions.
