Johnson Charles will replace Litton Das at KKR for IPL 2023. It seems to be a short-sighted decision by KKR because they really needed to improve their fast bowling reserves. Also, just like MI & CSK have done in recent times, they could have also used this chance to sign a player for the future although it may not be helpful right now. On that note, here, we take a look at three players KKR could have picked instead of Johnson Charles as a replacement for Litton Das.
1) Rassie van der Dussen
Since Johnson Charles is a top-order player, he will not get a chance considering Roy and Gurbaz are doing well. Hence, they could have tried someone like Rassie.
The 34-year-old is good against pace and would have been a good option in the lower middle-order. He also brings with him a lot of experience. Therefore, he features on this list.
2) Tom Kohler-Cadmore
Tom Kohler-Cadmore is one of the players KKR could have picked instead of Johnson Charles as a replacement for Litton Das. The Englishman has been doing well in various T20 leagues and IPL franchises can try the player in their teams.
He is someone who prefers batting at No.3 or No.4. He would offer something different than the existing set of players on the roster. Also, if he clicks, he can be a solid investment for the future.
3) Dilshan Madushanka
It has been a few years now that KKR has had a good left-arm pacer. The best options are already taken and hence, they could have tried someone like Madushanka.
The player has been doing well and would add variety to the pace attack. He is just 22 years old and if he does well in the next few months for Sri Lanka, KKR could have even considered retaining him for IPL 2024.
