3 players from sister franchises whom Mumbai Indians could target for IPL 2025

Despite having a strong squad, Mumbai Indians finished last in IPL 2024. However, on the other side, the sister franchises of MI are doing decently well. Of course, they could improve in the SA20 League. The management could target some of the players of those outfits for Mumbai Indians. Here, we take a look at the list of three players from sister franchises whom Mumbai Indians could target for IPL 2025.

1) Ben Stokes

The English all-rounder was one of the big signings by Mumbai Indians for the 2025 edition of the SA20 T20 League. While he has had fitness issues, Stokes is always a clutch and a reliable cricketer.

MI might also need a player of his mould. Stokes can play across the batting line-up and that is an advantage for the side. If he can contribute something with the ball, that would further help the franchise.

2) Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada is one of the players from sister franchises whom Mumbai Indians could target for IPL 2025. The South African speedster represents the owners in various T20 leagues. However, he is yet to play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

That said, with Punjab Kings likely to release him, MI has a good chance to sign him. He would be a perfect candidate to partner with Jasprit Bumrah in all the phases of the game. His experience will also help him do well for the franchise.

3) Anrich Nortje

The South African cricketer did not have a great run in IPL 2024. Hence, he is likely to be released by Delhi Capitals. A number of teams could line him up at the auctions.

Nortje played for MI New York in the recent Major Cricket League. The tall pacer may not be in good form in IPL but in other leagues, he has been in decent touch. He could also be very useful at Wankhede. Therefore, MI could target him.
