3 players extremely unlucky to miss out on the Sri Lanka ODI series squad

Gautam Gambhir’s first series as the Head Coach will start soon. For that, both the ODI and the T20I squads have been selected. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players extremely unlucky to miss out on the Sri Lanka ODI series squad.

ODI Squad: Rohit Sharma (C), Ꮪhubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshit Rana.

1) Sanju Samson

It needs to be noted that Sanju Samson scored a century in tough South African conditions in the last ODI series that India played. Despite this, the Kerala cricketer did not get a spot in the ODI side.

He would have been the ideal backup for each batting slot in the batting order. With Hardik Pandya not there, he might have even been in the playing XI. However, Sanju did not get a chance.

2) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the players extremely unlucky to miss out on the Sri Lanka ODI series squad. It is shocking that Rutu is not a part of both the ODI and the T20I squads.

He is one of the best in-form batters at the moment. He has grabbed every chance that he has got. Yet, he has been kept out of the squad for the Sri Lanka ODI series.

3) B Sai Sudharsan

India has not selected a backup opener for this series. In the South Africa series, Sai had made his debut and had done well in a few matches.

His style is also suited more for the ODI format. Since India does not have a left-handed opener reserved for ODIs, they could have had Sai in the line-up. It would have been a good experience for him, as well.
