3 players dropped for the 2023 ODI World Cup but could become full-time captains after the tournament

The fate of a cricket player can be crazy. One moment, he could be down and out and the next, he could be a hero. It could happen the other way, as well. Some players are all set to experience the bottom-to-high arc in the coming weeks. On that note, here, we take a look at three players who were dropped for the 2023 ODI World Cup but could become full-time captains after the tournament

1) Sarfaraz Ahmed

Sarfaraz Ahmed is a part of this list of players who were dropped for the 2023 ODI World Cup but could become full-time captains after the tournament. Due to his experience, many felt Sarfaraz would get selected for the tournament. However, he was dropped.

That said, as per reports, Babar Azam is set to be sacked as captain and Sarfaraz could replace him. It is an interesting move considering his age. However, it might be the right move due to his experience and knowing that Pakistan will enter the transition period.

2) Shan Masood

Shan Masood was the vice-captain of Pakistan not long ago. However, he was dropped from the setup with a few weeks to go. His presence might have actually been good for the team.

Nevertheless, it is likely that he might get a chance back in the side. Further, it may not be a surprise if he takes up the captaincy. He is matured enough to handle the role in this situation for the Asian squad.

3) Zak Crawley

It is a distant thought but may not be a surprise if ECB does this. Crawley led England recently in an ODI series. He could be in the plans for the future, as well.

Of course, he must first cement his place in the side. With the likes of Dawid Malan not doing well, Zak Crawley does have a chance. England could decide on a roadmap for the next four years with Crawley at the helm.
