Chennai Super Kings started IPL 2024 well but they just could not pick points in a heap. Hence, they had to come under pressure against RCB and eventually lost the race to the playoffs. The management will look at making a lot of changes before the next season. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK will surely release before IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane was a major disappointment for CSK in IPL 2024. He had multiple chances to do well but the Mumbai cricketer could just not grab them. Considering his age, Rahane will surely not be retained by CSK before IPL 2025.
Rahane could also struggle to find a new team. He has been in poor form and he will have to top the run charts in the next Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season if he has to get a bid in the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
2) Daryl Mitchell
Daryl Mitchell is one of the players CSK will surely release before the IPL 2025 Auctions. The Kiwi was the costliest player for CSK at IPL 2024 Auctions. However, he could not justify the price tag as Dary Mitchell failed to deliver for the franchise.
CSK will look at someone like Aiden Markram to become a part of the middle-order for the future. Therefore, they could release Mitchell. The Kiwi, like Rahane, could struggle to find a new team. Even if he does get a bid, he might find it hard to get a place in the playing XI.
3) Deepak Chahar
Deepak Chahar has been struggling for the last few seasons both due to form and fitness. He has a big salary and therefore, CSK might consider releasing the cricketer before the next auctions.
Tushar Deshpande has done well with the new ball and Simarjeet Singh has shown promise in the other phases. Therefore, CSK might trust these players and could release Chahar.
