RCB has Josh Hazlewood, Nuwan Thushara and Lungi Ngidi as the overseas pacers. They had some other pacers in the wishlist, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three overseas pacers RCB targeted but could not sign for IPL 2025.
1) Mitchell Starc
RCB stepped in to sign Starc in the final stages of the bidding for the Australian cricketer. It would have been a great homecoming for the legendary cricketer. However, Delhi Capitals wanted to sign him more. RCB did not have the budget allocated to spend more on Starc. Hence, they had to lose the chance to bring back the cricketer to Bengaluru.
2) Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada is one of the overseas pacers RCB targeted but could not sign for IPL 2025. The South African speedster was one of the first players to be targeted by RCB. They went for him for a while but then had to step back after Gujarat Titans showed desperate intent to sign him. Considering RCB does not have bowlers with serious pace and HTD skills, Rabada would have been useful for them.
3) Kwena Maphaka
RCB and Rajasthan Royals fought for Kwena Maphaka in the final stages of the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. A teenage left-arm pacer, the South African represented Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. For the future of the side, Kwena Maphaka would have been an ideal candidate for RCB. Considering his skills to excel in various phases, he could have even played in the upcoming season.
