Mumbai Indians seemed to have found the right pace combination with Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah. However, there were a few other targets for the five-time champions. Here, we take a look at the list of three overseas pacers Mumbai Indians targeted but could not sign for IPL 2025.
1) Jofra Archer
Mumbai Indians did not have a great experience with Jofra Archer in the first stint. His fitness was of great concern for the side.
However, it has improved now. Hence, deservedly, Mumbai targeted the cricketer again. However, Rajasthan Royals wanted to build their attack around him and hence, they were more desperate.
2) Xavier Bartlett could have been one of the pacers for Mumbai in IPL 2025
Xavier Bartlett is one of the overseas pacers Mumbai Indians targeted but could not sign for IPL 2025. An under-rated pacer, he was a part of the wishlist for MI, as well.
However, Ricky Ponting signed the Aussie cricketer. If not as a starter, Mumbai could have used the youngster as a backup option.
3) Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood had a lot of takers at the recent auctions. He would have been the ideal all-phase partner for Bumrah at Mumbai.
However, RCB also wanted a pace leader and hence, they went all the way for the Aussie. If he arrives fit, RCB will be in good hands.
