Recently, KL Rahul visited Mr Sanjiv Goenka at his office in Kolkata. This has sparked rumours that KL could be retained by LSG. It would be a blow for some of the RCB fans who wanted the player back at the franchises. Nevertheless, there are some fine options who could be available. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three other high-profile batters RCB could target if KL Rahul gets retained by LSG.

1) Tilak Varma
With the kind of talent at Mumbai Indians, the franchise may not be able to retain Tilak Varma. Of course, it depends on the retention rules.
If he comes to the auctions, although MI might still have the RTM card, Tilak’s demand is too high and MI will be on a level playing field. Here is where RCB can invest in the cricketer who can be the fulcrum of the side in the future.
2) Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan is one of the other high-profile batters RCB could target if KL Rahul gets retained by LSG. Again, just like Tilak, Ishan’s retention is also a doubt. However, Ishan’s demand is likely to be lesser because of his current form in the IPL.
For RCB, though, he would be a perfect fit. He can be the ideal opening partner for Virat Kohli. Also, since he keeps wickets, RCB would have a fine domestic keeper and someone who can also captain the side in the future.
3) Phil Salt
He had a blockbuster season at KKR in IPL 2024. He is indeed high-profile because of his aggressive batting, young age and wicket-keeping skills.
RCB could target him to replace Faf du Plessis. Also, Salt may not be retained by KKR because the likes of Sunil Narine, Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russell and Rinku Singh will be ahead on the pecking order.
