It is not long before the final list of retentions is out. It is a crucial cycle for Chennai Super Kings. They must be perfect with their choices before the auctions. The core selected now could define the future of the outfit. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three mistakes CSK must avoid ahead of IPL 2025 Retentions on October 31st.
1) Releasing Shivam Dube
Not retaining Shivam Dube will be a big mistake by the franchise. A few reports claim that this could very well happen as CSK has other ideas for the middle order.
It is hard to get a left-handed batter with brute force for the middle order. Shivam is a top choice and he is also doing well. Hence, it will be risky to let him go.
2) Retaining Sameer Rizvi
Retaining Sameer Rizvi is one of the mistakes CSK must avoid before IPL 2025 Retentions on October 31st. Yes, he is a talented cricketer but he did not do much last year to warrant a retention. He can be an option for the side to get with the RTM Card.
Also, it is not clear what is the best batting slot for the Uttar Pradesh lad. This could confuse the management in identifying the right targets at the auctions. The RTM Card could then be explored for the likes of Rachin Ravindra or Devon Conway.
3) Investing too much money in Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja will be a top retention for the franchise. However, allocating too much funds on him may not be a great idea considering his age and form, which was not exactly great in IPL 2024.
Jaddu can deviate from the plan with the bat at times. The management must let him know that his performances are tracked. This way, they can get the best out of him.
