3 major decisions Rahul Dravid could take if he becomes Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals

As per reports, Rahul Dravid is likely to become the next Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals. Kumar Sangakkara is reportedly inline to be the next white-ball coach of England. Dravid has a specific philosophy and he could take some bold and tough decisions at RR. Here, we take a look at the list of three major decisions Rahul Dravid could take if he becomes Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals.

1) Retain Riyan Parag ahead of Jos Buttler if limited retentions are allowed

Jos Buttler has been a fine servant for Rajasthan over the years. However, he is an ageing cricketer and the consistency is missing these days.

If BCCI has only limited retentions available for the teams, Rahul Dravid could prefer Riyan Parag over Buttler. Of course, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the two retentions before this call is taken by Rahul.

2) Buyback Prasidh Krishna

Buying back Prasidh Krishna is one of the major decisions Rahul Dravid could take if he becomes Head Coach of Rajasthan Royals. It has been two seasons since Prasidh has played in the IPL. He was contracted with RR but was able to serve them for just one season.

Retaining him may not happen but Rahul could try to buy him back at the auctions. Even when he was with Team India, Rahul seemed to have trusted Prasidh a lot. He is a pace with a high potential and could come back stronger under the former India coach.

3) Replace Trent Boult with Marco Jansen

Trent Boult does well but he is not great outside the powerplay. Also, his age does not allow him to be a long-term investment for the side.

In this regard, Rahul could go really hard for Marco Jansen, who is likely to be released by SRH. From a long-term perspective, he offers more value to the side. It is a risk as he cannot replace Boult directly but it is a punt worth taking.
