3 legends who could end their careers without an ODI World Cup if they don’t win it in 2023

Brian Lara, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Ian Botham and AB de Villiers are some of the legends who did not win the ODI World Cup. It is a coveted trophy and is the dream of every cricketer to place their hands on it. It would be the last chance for some of them this year. Here, we take a look at three legends who could end their careers without an ODI World Cup if they don’t win it in 2023.

1) Rohit Sharma – India

The captain of the Indian Team, Rohit missed out on a chance to be a part of the 2011 ODI World Cup winning squad. He also missed out on the trophy in the next two editions.

Happening in India this time around, Rohit will be desperate to win the trophy. It will surely be his last and for one of the greatest modern ODI batters, an ODI World Cup will glorify his career.

2) Angelo Matthews – Sri Lanka

With over 5000 runs and 120 wickets, Angelo Matthews has been good for Sri Lanka in this format. Considering his contribution to Tests, he is a legend for the nation.

He is a part of the ODI squad and Sri Lanka will look to give a good end to Angelo’s career by doing well in the tournament. Hence, he is a part of this list.

3) Shakib Al Hasan – Bangladesh

Shakib Al Hasan is one of the legends who could end their career without an ODI World Cup if they don’t win it in 2023. One of the greatest all-rounders of this game, Shakib could be playing his last ODI WC in 2023.

It is a shame that he will have to end his career without a WC if the Bangladesh squad does not win it this year. It is very difficult for the squad to do well, because of the other opponents who are much stronger than them.
