3 Indians Who Reached Their Test Century With A Six In England

For the Indian batsmen and, for that matter, any subcontinent batsmen, a Test century in England is a mighty feeling. To hit a hundred in swinging conditions and against a world-class bowling attack is indeed a tough task. However, a few Indians have managed to do it. In fact, three of them reached their Test century with a six. We talk about the players in this article.

1) Sachin Tendulkar – 1996

Score: 122 (177) || Innings: 2nd || Venue: Edgbaston || Bowler: Minal Patel

Sachin Tendulkar was the first Indian to reach their Test century with a six. India had a tough time in the game, and this was mainly because of the poor batting show. However, the Master Blaster was in form in the second innings. With wickets falling around, he played an attacking game and got to his century. Yet, Team India still lost the encounter.

2) Rishabh Pant – 2018

Score: 114 (146) || Innings: 2nd || Venue: The Oval || Bowler: Adil Rashid

It was the final Test of the 2018 Tour, and Rishabh Pant had just been drafted into the squad. Although his performance was underwhelming in the series, Pant made a quickfire century in the final innings of the tour. India still lost the game, but the then-teenager showed flashes of his brilliance. He also brought his century with a six of Adil Rashid‘s bowling.

3) Rohit Sharma – 2021

Score: 127 (256) || Innings: 2nd || Venue: The Oval || Bowler: Moeen Ali

Rohit Sharma got the monkey off his back after scoring his first Test overseas ton in the 4th Test at the Oval against England. Uncharacteristically, Rohit was subdued initially, but his approach suited India’s requirements. However, once he got in, runs started flowing. Rohit had missed his century at the Lord, and hence, many felt he would take things slowly when he got into his nineties. However, Rohit hit a century of Moeen’s Ali to bring up his Test century with a six.
