3 Indians who might surprisingly not get selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup

It is getting closer to the day when the Indian Team for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup will be announced. India’s last T20I series was against Afghanistan. However, IPL will play a key role in deciding the team. We could be in for a lot of surprises. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who might surprisingly not get selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

1) Jitesh Sharma

Jitesh Sharma was the identified wicket-keeper for India in the recent tournaments. However, he has been inconsistent in IPL 2024 and that gives a chance to some of the other options.

There are reports that Rishabh Pant could stitch a comeback. Sanju Samson is also in the fray while the likes of Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul are one big game away from getting back into the radar.

2) Axar Patel

Axar Patel is one of the Indians who might surprisingly not get selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup. India might need two specialist leg-spinners in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi or Yuzvendra Chahal. Hence, they can afford only one spin-bowling all-rounder.

Ravindra Jadeja has been in decent touch with the ball. Fans expect more from him with the bat but even Axar has not been at his best. Hence, the Gujarat all-rounder might miss out on the final squad.

3) KL Rahul

KL Rahul was not given a chance in the Afghanistan T20I series. Also, he is opening the batting in IPL 2024 and that puts a doubt if he can make a comeback to the Indian Team because that slot is already taken.

Also, Rahul’s strike rate issues are still there. If Rahul has to get selected, he must start playing with a better strike rate. This alone would get him a chance. At the moment, though, it looks really unlikely.
