3 Indians in Asian Games 2023 squad who might join the World Cup squad as travelling reserves

Team India won the gold medal in cricket at the Asian Games 2023. It was a proud moment for the young squad. While most players would start preparing for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a few might still have some India duties. India could need some help in the ongoing World Cup. Hence, a few players could join the senior side as reserves. Here, we take a look at three Indians in the Asian Games 2023 squad who can join the World Cup squad as travelling reserves.

1) Ruturaj Gaikwad

With Shubman Gill not well, India is sweating over the issues that could come up in the top order. Usually, dengue causes weakness and Gill could find it hard when he comes back.

Just as a backup, it would be wise if Ruturaj Gaikwad travels with Team India. He is an experienced cricketer now and would be ready to play for the team if needed.

2) Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma is one of the Indians in the Asian Games 2023 squad who can join the World Cup squad as a travelling reserve. He was even a part of the team that played the recent Australia series. Hence, it is likely that he would join Team India.

If any of the middle-order batter has an injury issue and needs to be replaced, Tilak would be first on the list. He adds variety because he is a left-hander and would also provide a few overs with the ball.

3) Ravi Bishnoi

India has Prasidh Krishna who could come on if any pacer has a fitness problem. However, there is no one readily available if any of the spinners get injured.

It would be best if Ravi Bishnoi is available for the team. He is a quality leg-spinner and would be an asset to the team. He could also be an option to help India play quality leg-spin in the nets.
