BCCI recently announced the squads for the upcoming South Africa Tour. Including the India A squads, close to 50 cricketers are will travel to South Africa. For the India games, three diverse squads have been selected across the formats. Interestingly, only three players have made it to all three formats. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indian players picked for all three formats for the South Africa Tour.
1) Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad finds a surprise mention in all three squads for the South Africa Tour. It is clear that the management rates him highly and hence, he is getting these chances.
Rutu has some weakness against the moving ball. Hence, if at all he gets a chance in Tests, it will be interesting to see how he does. It will also be interesting to see what role he takes up in the Test XI.
2) Shreyas Iyer
It is no surprise that Shreyas Iyer is present in the Indian squad in all three formats. While it is expected that he would operate in the middle order in Tests and ODIs, it is not clear as to what his role would be in T20Is.
In the West Indies, the wickets are sluggish. A player like Shreyas Iyer is a must on such tracks. Maybe, this is the reason why Shreyas Iyer is present in the recent T20I squads. Interestingly, not long ago, he was not in the picture when it came to the T20 format.
3) Mukesh Kumar
Mukesh Kumar is one of the Indian players picked for all three formats for the South Africa Tour. The West Bengal pace made his debut across all three formats in the West Indies recently. Now, he is likely to represent India in all three formats again in South Africa.
Mukesh has shown his adaptability across formats. He is growing in confidence and might be a proper option for India in all three formats. Hence, he is deservedly getting opportunities.
