3 Indian players from the current squad who might be dropped for the next ODI series

India’s issues in the ODI setup got exposed in the recent series against Australia. India‘s next ODI assignment would be after the IPL and the WTC final. The next series, as per the current plan, will be against West Indies. India would have to make some hard decisions for that series. On that note, here, we take a look at three Indian players from the current squad who might be dropped for the next ODI series.

1) Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav essentially did not put his bat on the ball in the ODI series against Australia. He was out for a golden duck in all three matches against Australia.

With the likes of Sanju Samson and others getting an opportunity to show their form in IPL 2023, SKY’s situation is difficult in the ODI setup. Therefore, the Mumbai Indians batter could lose his spot for the next ODI series.

2) Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur is one of the Indian players from the current squad who might be dropped for the next ODI series. Thakur played one game against Australia but was not impressive. He has anyways been out for form for the last few months and has actually not got a lot of chances.

India would probably invest in pacers such as Umran Malik, who would have a better chance of picking wickets in the middle overs. Therefore, Shardul Thakur might lose his spot in the line-up.

3) Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy but the management did not give him a chance in playing XI. This shows the management’s current view of the cricketer in ODIs.

Players like Arshdeep Singh and Mohsin Khan would get a chance to show their skills in IPL. However, at Lucknow Super Giants, Jaydev Unadkat’s chances of getting a lot of games is unlikely. Therefore, he would miss out on a good chance to impress the selectors.
