As per reports, BCCI has called the IPL owners for a discussion on IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. In the same report, it said that a few franchises have proposed the idea of eight retentions before the next Mega Auction. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three franchises that could have proposed 8 retentions before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
1) Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR has a strong core at the moment. Importantly, it is a young core and this could help the franchise in the coming seasons.
Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Nitish Rana, Harshit Rana and Suyash Sharma could be the core for the future. Adding to this, KKR also has Andre Russel and Sunil Narine who could play for few more years. Hence, KKR could want 8 retentions before the next auctions.
2) Mumbai Indians
It is no surprise that Mumbai Indians still remain one of the strongest sides in the competition despite having a rough start to the season. If given a chance, they could retain even more than eight cricketers.
Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan would surely be on the list. Promising cricketers such as Gerald Coetzee, Tim David, Dewald Brevis, Nuwan Thushara and Akash Madhwal also could be retained.
3) Chennai Super Kings
CSK is one of the franchises that could have proposed 8 retentions before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. CSK might be having its greatest star retiring soon but the franchise has a young solid core that could serve well for the franchise in the years to come.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra, Sameer Rizvi, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathirana and Deepak Chahar are some of the cricketers who could do well for the team in the next decade. Some of the veterans such as Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner and Daryl Mitchell could also have an impact for the team.
