3 former players whom CSK could target to replace Devon Conway for IPL 2024

Devon Conway is likely to miss at least eight weeks of IPL 2024. It would not be a surprise if CSK replaces him for the upcoming campaign. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three former players whom CSK could target to replace Devon Conway for IPL 2024.

1) Sam Billings

Sam Billings did well in a few games when he played for CSK a few years ago. However, since then, he has not done well in the IPL. He has also lost his place in the English setup.

However, it will be interesting for CSK to have a player back in the setup. He is aware of the environment and is someone who can operate at multiple slots. He is also a wicket-keeper, which would further be useful if MS Dhoni has to rest for a few matches.

2) Jason Holder

Jason Holder is one of the former players whom CSK could target to replace Devon Conway for IPL 2024. It was at CSK that Holder started his career in the IPL.

His career, especially in the IPL, is on a downward spiral. Usually, such players do well at CSK. Barring Pathirana and Mustafizur, CSK does not have an overseas pacer. Since both Pathirana and Fizz are injury-prone, it might be good to have a backup overseas pacer in the squad.

3) Matt Henry

CSK might struggle when they travel away because of the introduction of the new rule of two bouncers being allowed in an over. There are not many pacers in the team who are able to make good use of it.

In this regard, CSK could consider having a pacer who could be drafted into the XI when CSK travel to venues such as Ahmedabad or Mumbai. Henry is a good candidate and is also from New Zealand, which might help his case.
