3 foreign pacers CSK tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not

Chennai Super Kings had a solid outing in the IPL 2024 Auctions. The team was able to fill the gaps in the squad while also making some quality buys at a low price. CSK is also clear about its plans for the future and a few signings gave a clue of the direction in which the franchise is headed. Mustafizur Rahman was the foreign pacer whom CSK signed. However, they had a couple of other targets in mind. They bid for these players but could not sign them. Here, we take a look at the list of three foreign pacers CSK tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not.

1) Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins was one of the first players whom CSK targeted in the auctions. However, Cummins went for a sum beyond INR 20 Cr and it was too much for CSK.

That said, he would have been the ideal buy for CSK. He has leadership experience and knows how to bowl well in Chepauk. Plus, he would have added batting depth.

2) Alzarri Joseph

CSK was also serious about signing Alzarri Joseph. The team does not have a single bowler who can hit the deck consistently. This could affect them in some venues outside Chennai.

Hence, Alzarri was chased by CSK. However, RCB was also interested in the cricketer. Since RCB needed him more, CSK had to give up on the West Indian pacer.

3) Gerald Coetzee

Gerald Coetzee is one of the foreign pacers CSK tried to sign in IPL 2024 Auctions but could not. Due to his JSK connection, CSK bid for Coetzee, as well.

However, surprisingly, they left too early from the bidding war. He would have been a good signing for the franchise. Age-wise, as well, he was perfect. Eventually, Mumbai Indians signed the South African speedster, who is in good form now.
