England white-ball cricket is likely to undergo a few radical changes after the 2023 ODI World Cup. It was a tough tournament for them and a disappointing one, too. The management will surely look to bring some new faces. At the same time, they might give an opportunity to some of the experienced names so that there is the right balance in the setup. Here, we take a look at three experienced cricketers who could make a comeback to the England squad after the 2023 ODI World Cup.
1) Sam Billings
Sam Billings was once in good form but lost out on opportunities due to the competition in the squad. While consistency is a problem now, he has the skills to turn around and do well for England again.
A middle-order wicket-keeper batter, Sam has sufficient experience to help the younger stars develop around him. He himself can work further on his skills to offer a few good years to English cricket.
2) Jason Roy
It was at the last moment that England dropped Jason Roy
Dawid Malan is likely to be removed from the squad after the World Cup. While there are plenty of youngsters to take his place, Roy might also be considered. This is because Jonny Bairstow might also need competition to get back to his best.
3) James Vince
James Vince is one of the experienced cricketers who could make a comeback to the England squad after the 2023 ODI World Cup. The 32-year-old would have been a decent option as Joe Root’s backup in the ODI World Cup squad.
That said, he might get a bigger role in the future. Despite being consistent at the domestic level, he has not recieved chances frequently. A talented batter, James, who made his debut in 2015, can be a good addition to the side.
