With Andy Flower and Mo Bobat at the helm, Royal Challengers Bengaluru could eye a few English cricketers at the next auctions. In fact, the core of the squad could comprise some English names. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three English cricketers RCB could surprisingly target for IPL 2025.
1) Harry Brook
Although he struggled at the start in SRH, he later was decent for the franchise. As an opener, he even scored a century for the side. Nevertheless, he was released by the outfit. It needs to be noted that RCB targeted Harry Brook in IPL 2023 Auctions, as well.
RCB will need a young superstar and someone who can do well in the middle order. A future captaincy contender, Brook could be the ideal replacement for Glenn Maxwell. Of course, he will have to work on his game against spin.
2) Liam Livingstone
Liam Livingstone is one of the English cricketers RCB could surprisingly target for IPL 2025. It has been a while since RCB had someone with brute power in the lower middle-order. Recently, they had to rely on Dinesh Karthik’s range hitting to finish games.
Yes, he could be in bad form in IPL but Livingstone is still a worthy option to have. On his day, he can take the game away from the opposition single-handedly. Plus, he also offers something with the ball, as well.
3) Ben Duckett
The left-hander, who recently started opening for England in ODIs, was one of the best batters in the Hundred 2024. For someone who has experience as an opener and also a middle order batter, the flexibility could help him land an IPL contract.
RCB could be interested in him because he is a left-hander and can be ultra-aggressive. Also, he is a part-time wicket-keeper and that could further help the franchise. Hence, Ben is one of the surprise targets on the list.
