Earlier, Star Sports announced the list of commentators for the upcoming season of IPL 2024. Interestingly, there were certain players who are still capable of playing in the league. They were just unsold in the recent auctions. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three commentators in IPL 2024 who could become replacement signings.
1) Steve Smith
Steve Smith, as expected, went unsold in the IPL 2024 Auctions. However, with so many players getting ruled out and pulling out, Smith could still have a chance to feature in the competition.
In the recent months, he has developed himself as a T20 opener. He is a class player and is good against both spin and pace. In the past, he has also captained an IPL franchise. Therefore, he could still get an opportunity in IPL 2024.
2) Varun Aaron
Varun recently announced his retirement from FC Cricket. In the IPL 2024 Auctions, he was unsold. Nevertheless, he is someone whom teams could still consider.
With the new rule of two bouncers allowed in an over, players like Varun could be useful. Also, with the Impact Player rule, Varun need not be in the starting XI. He also has good pace and is experienced in the tournament. Therefore, the Jharkhand cricketer still could feature in IPL 2024.
3) N Jagadeesan
N Jagadeesan is one of the commentators in IPL 2024 who could become replacement signings. N Jagadeesan was one of the important signings for KKR last season. However, despite getting some chances, he could not do well. Later, he was released.
Jagadeesan could not get shortlisted to go under the hammer. However, he was in poor form at that time. In the recent Ranji Trophy, he has regained some confidence. Since he is a solid wicket-keeper, if any keeper gets injured, he could be considered as a replacement signing.
