Conflict of Interest is actually a serious thing in the Indian Premier League. In the past, we have seen instances wherein a coach was not considered for the Indian Team because he was associated with a franchise. The vice-versa has also happened. However, that is not the case when it comes to being a commentator. A commentator does not actively help other sides with his statements and hence, even if he is associated with a team, it will not be a conflict of interest. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three commentators in IPL 2024 who are involved with a franchise.
1) Zaheer Khan – Global Head of Cricket Development of MI
Earlier, Zaheer Khan was the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians. However, after Mumbai Indians owners extended their presence in other global T20 leagues, Zaheer was given a different role.
Zaheer has been doing well because MI has won leagues in the USA and also in the UAE. However, as a commentator, as well, he is doing a fine job in the ongoing IPL 2024.
2) Parthiv Patel – Talent Scout of Mumbai Indians
Parthiv Patel is one of the commentators in IPL 2024 who are involved with a franchise. When it comes to scouting talents, Mumbai Indians rank the best in the tournament.
The credit must go to the scouts whom they have in the system. Parthiv Patel is responsible for an important cricketing region. It is from Gujarat that the likes of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah came through. Hence, his role is important.
3) R Vinay Kumar – Talent Scout of Mumbai Indians
Vinay Kumar, who was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame for RCB, is associated with MI as a talent scout. At the same time, he is a Kannada commentator.
Vinay could be scouting talents for MI in Karnataka, which is a key area for Indian cricket. The signing of Shreyas Gopal could have been an input from Vinay.
