3 clues the Indian management gave about the playing XI in the first warmup fixture of 2024 T20 WC

It was an easy game for Team India against Bangladesh in the first warmup game for the side at the 2024 T20 World Cup. With the combination used, the management gave some clues on what lies ahead. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three clues the Indian management gave about playing XI in the first warmup fixture of the 2024 T20 WC.

1) Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will open the batting

Virat Kohli was missing the game because he had arrived late to the USA. However, it was a surprise when Rohit Sharma walked out with Sanju Samson and not Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In fact, Yashasvi did not get a chance to bat in the game. This clearly means that India will not have him in the preferred playing XI. Therefore, we can conclude that Virat will be Rohit’s opening partner.

2) Rishabh Pant will play at No.3

Rishabh Pant‘s presence at No.3 is one of the clues the Indian management gave about playing XI in the first warmup fixture of the 2024 T20 WC. Further, it was an unexpected move when Rishabh Pant walked out at No.3. He also found success in the role.

Pant can make good use of the powerplay if an early wicket falls. He can play anchor if required. Therefore, the No.3 role could be his in the tournament.

3) Shivam Dube to feature in the playing XI

If Pant plays at No.3, India would need another left-hander in the middle-order. Shivam Dube could be that man. He got a chance with the bat and later picked two wickets with the ball, as well.

It appears that the management wants to use Hardik and Shivam as the third pacer. This will give space for an extra spinner. Axar Patel or Yuzvendra Chahal could fill this role.
