Five-time champions Mumbai Indians are yet to open their account in IPL 2022. The team has underperformed in both departments and they would want to correct it at the earliest. MI will next face the high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders on 6th April at the MCA Stadium in Pune. While bowling has been inconsistent, MI will also need batters to take more responsibility. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three changes Mumbai Indians might make for their next game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
1) Suryakumar Yadav for Anmolpreet Singh
Suryakumar Yadav also missed the second game and based on what Zaheer Khan had to say, SKY could be ready for the next encounter. He is an in-form cricketer and will boost the batting line-up of the franchise. Anmolpreet Singh has not done well in the initial two games and hence, he will not be a great miss for the team. On the other hand, the arrival of SKY makes the batting line-up look extremely strong with Tilak Verma doing well in the first two matches.
2) Sanjay Yadav for Basil Thampi
Sanjay Yadav for Basil Thampi is one of the changes Mumbai Indians might make for their next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Mumbai Indians have been using only one specialist spinner and they might go with a tactical change for the next encounter. Since Basil Thampi has been expensive, MI could bring in Sanjay Yadav to add variety to the bowling attack. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder could also slot in at No.7 or No.8 to add depth to the batting line-up.
3) Riley Meredith for Daniel Sams
Daniel Sams has not been impressive so far for Mumbai Indians. He is known for his movement at the start and some big hits with the willow. However, he has not been able to deliver both so far. Hence, Mumbai Indians could get his fellow countrymate, Riley Meredith, into the mix. KKR is a team with a few batters who struggle against high-end pace. Riley Meredith bowls quick and could play an influential part against KKR. Hence, he could get a chance for the next game.
