3 captains in IPL 2022 who might go unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions

IPL 2022 was when the last time the Mega Auction happened. Now, before IPL 2025, yet another Mega Auction is set to happen. A lot can change over the span of three years. In fact, it has changed a lot. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three captains in IPL 2022 who might go unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions.

1) Kane Williamson

Gujarat Titans picked Kane Williamson a few auctions ago at his base price. Kane’s stocks as a T20 cricketer have gone down further. He is now not in contention to even play for the Kiwis in T20Is.

Considering his age, as well, Kane might not find bidders at the IPL 2025 Auctions. Just like what happened with Steve Smith, Kane might suffer a similar fate.

2) Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal is one of the captains in IPL 2022 who might go unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions. IPL 2022 was a disappointing year for Mayank both as a captain and a batter. Hence, in effect, he was released by PBKS and Shikhar Dhawan was made as the skipper.

At SRH, as well, Mayank struggled for form. Although he did play a few games in IPL 2024, he was replaced later on. After the tremendous partnerships between Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, Mayank could not find his way back again. Now, it appears harder to find a team because franchises now want a swashbuckling pair at the top.

3) Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis is close to 40 and interestingly, he is yet to announce his retirement. His fitness will surely allow him to play for one more season at least. Assuming RCB will release their skipper, Faf could find himself in the auctions.

However, not many teams would be interested in a cricketer who can operate only for a few more years. Hence, Faf could go unsold at the event.
