As per reports, Gautam Gambhir is all set to become the next Head Coach of Team India. This means that he will have to leave his role as the Mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders. In that regard, KKR will have to scout for other candidates. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three candidates KKR can target as Mentor if Gautam Gambhir becomes India Head Coach.
1) Yuvraj Singh
Yuvraj Singh is yet to take up a role as a coach in the IPL or any other tournament. However, he can do a good job in this regard.
In guiding Abhishek Sharma, Yuvi has been brilliant. He can be of use to some other players in India or even abroad. Hence, KKR can approach the former all-rounder to join the side.
2) Eoin Morgan
Eoin Morgan is one of the candidates KKR can target as the Mentor if Gautam Gambhir becomes India Head Coach. It is actually a surprise that Morgan is yet to take up a role in the support staff. A captain who relied heavily on tactics, he does have the credentials to be a good coach.
KKR might go for their former captain to become the new Mentor of the side. He would bring in a different mentality and a lot of different strategies.
3) Shane Watson
KKR would ideally want to have Chandrakant Pandit at the helm for the next season even if Gambhir is not there. In that case, KKR can appoint Shane Watson as the Mentor with the view of him taking over the role of the Head Coach in the future.
Watto is a shrewd tactician and did well in the PSL. He knows the demands of the modern T20 game and would be a good option to be in the KKR setup.
