A few weeks ago, there were reports that Gujarat Titans might relieve Ashish Nehra. However, as per the latest reports, Nehra is set to stay with the franchise. He will be motivated to do well after his team could not reach the playoffs in IPL 2024. 1) Retain Abhinav Manohar
Actually, Abhinav Manohar did not get consistent chances at Gujarat Titans. In the limited games he got, he was actually decent.
On the other hand, he has been in smashing form domestically. He did really well in the recent KSCA Maharaja T20 Trophy. He scored sixes for fun. Abhinav is excellent against spinners and might be the perfect option to groom at No.4.
2) Retain Rahul Tewatia
Retaining Rahul Tewatia is one of the bold retention calls Ashish Nehra could take for Gujarat Titans before IPL 2025. He may not be technically brilliant but Rahul Tewatia gets things done. And, he has a ridiculous consistency with that.
He is a specialist finisher and is only improving his game. Of course, he can also provide value with the ball. Most importantly, he is an uncapped player and Gujarat Titans can retain him at a low fee.
3) Retain Noor Ahmad
Rashid Khan is definitely one of the retentions. However, the team must also keep an eye on Noor Ahmad. The franchise groomed him and they are about to get the best out of him.
While he is a great partner for Rashid, he could also be a replacement for Rashid in the future. It is hard to get left-arm leg-spinners of Noor’s quality in the current market. Most teams would be desperate for a player like Noor. Hence, GT can retain two overseas spinners and build a squad accordingly.
