Australia has named the final squad for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. A few players will consider themselves unlucky to not get a spot in the final squad. Here, we take a look at the list of three Australians unlucky to not be selected for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Before that, here is a look at the 15 players who will represent Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup:
Australia squad for 2023 ODI World Cup: Pat Cummins (C), Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
1) Nathan Ellis
Nathan Ellis is one player who has been in decent form in recent months. However, Sean Abbott will play in the World Cup and not Ellis.
Considering Ellis has experience playing in the IPL, he might have been a better fit. He also offers slightly different skills compared to the existing pacers in the setup. Hence, Ellis is unlucky to miss out.
2) Tanveer Sangha
It was a surprise when Tanveer was named in the initial squad. However, he recently played for Australia in the absence of Adam Zampa and looked to be in good rhythm.
Playing in India at the World Cup would have been a terrific experience for the youngster. Australia would have liked a backup for Zampa and it is surprising that they did not go with Tanveer Sangha.
3) Marnus Labuschagne
Marnus Labuschagne is one of the Australians unlucky to not be selected for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Even in the provisional squad, Marnus did not find a place. However, he is a talented player and could have been backed.
On his day, Marnus can change the game with his batting skills. Also, he can offer a few overs of leg-spin, something that can be useful in India. Hence, he is on this list.
