Kolkata Knight Riders deservingly won IPL 2024. It is not sure what would be the retention criteria for IPL 2025. Nevertheless, KKR would still have some ideas on how they can improve their squad for the upcoming campaign. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three acquisitions KKR could make at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) A reliable left-arm off-spinner
Almost every team in the competition has a reliable left-arm off-spinner. However, despite not having this, KKR won the trophy. Anukul Roy came in for a few games but he could not leave a lasting impact.
KKR will look at players such as R Sai Kishore and Mitchell Santner if they get released by their respective franchises. Such players will add more variety to the spin attack and will make the department more potent.
2) A top-order Indian wicket-keeper
An Indian wicketkeeper is one of the acquisitions KKR could make at the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Phil Salt did well and Gurbaz followed it up with some decent shows. However, in the long run, KKR would like to have an India wicket-keeper, who could preferably bat in the top order.
KS Bharat was anyway not going to be a serious option for the team. If someone like Prabhsimran Singh gets released, KKR would want to target such a player.
3) Another gun foreign pacer
Mitchell Starc stepped up for the franchise in the last and the most important two games for the team. However, before that, the Aussie was mediocre in his performance.
KKR will want to get one more gun foreign pacer on the team. The player must be able to deliver like Starc and also groom the youngsters in the team. Josh Hazlewood and Kagiso Rabada are some of the options to consider. Of course, KKR will push to retain Starc, as well.
