IPL 2023 will start on March 31st. The first game will be between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans. It is after a long time that IPL will return to the home-and-away format. IPL has been on an expanding spree and this time, too, they are aiming it. As part of this, a few games will happen at stadiums that do not have home teams. On that note, here, we take a look at two venues which will host the least games in IPL 2023.
1) Barsapara Cricket Stadium – Guwahati (5th & 8th April)
Guwahati is one city that has a solid fanbase for the game of cricket. In recent years, the fans have always expressed their passion whenever India plays a game here.
Rajasthan Royals will kick off their home campaign in Guwahati. They will host Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals here. RR has Assam’s most popular cricketer Riyan Parag on their roster. The young all-rounder is also in good form and is the favourite of many. Therefore, it will be a good chance for the franchise to expand its fanbase in the northeastern city.
2) Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium – Dharamshala (17th & 19th May)
Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium is one of the venues which will host the least games in IPL 2023. Dharamshala is home to one of the most scenic stadiums in India. Punjab Kings will play two games here. The opponents would be Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.
PBKS is also a franchise that needs to improve its fan following. Barring Punjab, Haryana and the surrounding areas, there are not a lot of PBKS fans. Hence, it would be important that a good crowd would be present at HPCA Stadium for the matches. Punjab has a set of exciting cricketers. The management will hope that the brand of cricket would draw a lot of fans for this franchise.
