2 uncapped players who could be retained if each franchise is allowed only 1 retention before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions

A few reports state that franchises could be allowed just 1 retention before the next auctions. However, they would be getting 7 RTM cards to bring back the core of their squad. That said, it will be a tricky situation for some franchises. Surely, retaining uncapped players will reduce the lesser budget from the overall budget. If the uncapped player is of good quality, some outfits could take this daring decision. Here, we take a look at two uncapped players who could be retained if each franchise is allowed only 1 retention before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.

1) Abhishek Sharma – Sunrisers Hyderabad

Before the last mega auctions, SRH retained two uncapped players in the form of Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. It may not be a surprise if SRH does the same again before the next auctions. Two capped players worthy of being retained are Heinrich Klaasen and Pat Cummins.

Cummins can be brought back using the RTM card. Klaasen could go for a big fee. But, if Klaasen is to be retained, Abhishek Sharma will have to be released. This is a tricky situation for the franchise. Hence, to secure the future of the franchise, they could retain the Punjab youngster.

2) Prabhsimran Singh – Punjab Kings

Prabhsimran Singh is one of the uncapped players who could be retained if each franchise is allowed only 1 retention before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. PBKS has plenty of youngsters stepping up for them this season. However, if they are asked to retain 1 player, they do not have one outright superstar on the roster.

Jitesh Sharma and Arshdeep Singh come close but both do not merit a single retention at the moment. On the other hand, if PBKS has an advantage in retaining an uncapped player, they could go for Prabhsimran. He is young, a wicket-keeper and a local lad. Hence, he ticks multiple boxes.
