Irani Cup 2024 ended with Mumbai winning the competition after a long gap. The Ranji champions had a first-inning lead and hence, they won the trophy. 1) Tanush Kotian
Tanush Kotian is a bowling all-rounder but time and again, he has been stepping up with the ball. While he had an average outing with the ball in the Irani Cup, he did have a memorable season in the previous Ranji campaign. 25 years old, he will be the ideal choice to be R Ashwin’s backup and may be, even replacement in the coming years.
Tanush has the ability to pick wickets in a heap. Just like Ashwin, he can also deliver with the bat. These attributes could be enough for him to fall on the radar of the national selectors.
2) Abhimanyu Easwaran
Abhimanyu Easwaran is one of the top performers in the Irani Cup 2024 who could play for India soon. India needs a backup opener. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill seemed to have settled in the middle order. Hence, India needs to have a backup for Rohit Sharma and Yashavi Jaiswal at the earliest.
While Ruturaj Gaikwad is in the discussion, it is Abhimanyu who has to be on the top of the pecking order.
