Having one or two local players usually helps an IPL franchise. Knowledge of the home conditions is always an advantage. Also, local fans would like one of their own to play for the side. However, some sides have not gone in this route. They do not have a single homegrown player for the upcoming season. Here, we take a look at the list of two teams without a single local player in IPL 2025.
1) Kolkata Knight Riders
For a while know, there have been complaints of KKR not having a single local player. Kolkata and West Bengal have a strong sports culture and it is shocking that KKR has not had a single Bengali cricketer in many seasons.
The franchise did try to sign Mohammed Shami but that did not happen. The likes of Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar were available for the team. However, the franchise did not sign any local cricketer.
2) Gujarat Titans do not have a local player in IPL 2025
Gujarat Titans is one of the teams without a single local player in IPL 2025. It needs to be noted that GT was led by a Gujarati cricketer in IPL 2022 and IPL 2023. However, now, they do not have a single option.
That said, the likes of Urvil Patel are doing well and there is a chance that he could come in as a replacement player. However, having the choices that they had, GT could have gone for at least one local player.
